The magical soil is a concoction made by Joost of Urban Crop himself. “Joost and business partner Renee Nutbean hope Urban Crop will demonstrate the value of organic compost rather than fertilized soil – which takes vast amounts of fossil fuel to produce and doesn’t make for healthy, happy plants. Urban Crop plants are full of energy and nutrients – not pumped full of fertilizer and water only to slump into a sad heap once you get them home. Urban Crop herbs will happily sit in your kitchen for a week or two, ready for you to harvest as you need them. Urban Crop flowers will produce the most stunning blooms that last longer than any cut flower.

The idea is to take your bundle of gorgeous Urban Crop blooms or herbs home, keep the soil and root system intact, enjoy them for a week or more, then either compost the plant when it dies, or keep the bulbs for next year. The Viceroy is an ideal location for a wedding, the stylish surroundings are a designers’ dream and “dramatic glamour under the sun.”  The venue is large enough to host a good sized wedding, yet small enough so that you and your guests would feel like you had entire sections of the hotel to yourselves.

The night began with poolside cocktails, paraffin hand treatments and mini massages then led to the lovely dining area with hovering chandeliers and perfect Palm Springs weather. Jose Villa was snapping the photos as Joel Serrato filmed us with his 8mm.  Luna Solomon of Arrangements Floral and Party Design did a fantastic job of designing the cocktail and dining area.

Some of the lovely ladies who were there included Beth Helmstetter, The Bridal Bar, Kristin Banta and her team,Luna Solomon of Arrangements Floral and Party Design, Vanessa and I from Lollipop Events & Designs, Alison Events, Jen from Green Wedding Shoes, Julie Pryor of Pryor Events, and a few more!

The lovely Alison Events team designed this Kate Spade inspired table top. We loved the springtime pops of color set upon a darker navy blue palette. And the men behind the lenses were Jose Villa with his camera and Joel Serrato with his 8 mm.

Spring is here and we can’t restrain ourselves from stopping to smell the roses. We adore the lovely sayings next to these stunning arrangements and can almost smell the floral aroma emanating off of the blooming buds…

This idea would also be stunning with vintage metal bangles in copper, silver and gold and even given to guests after the event!

Top Row: Jeff and Melissa loved the clean lines and floral interpretation of their Kate Spade “Gwinnett Lane” china pattern that. They asked Erica O’Brien to translate the pattern into cake. Erica hand cut fondant pieces colored to match the china and appliqued them to the fondant covering the cake.

Middle Row: Michael surprised Jillian with a trip to Hawaii, where he proposed to her after years of dating. To commemorate their trip and their engagement, they bought matching Hawaiian print shirts. They asked Erica OBrien to create a cake inspired by their shirts.

Bottom Row: Ron and Sarah used elements found in an Indian painting (exoticindiaart.com) to represent Ron’s family’s Hindu heritage

Choosing the right vendors is so important that it is really worth the research. Because of this, we are going to be spotlighting the vendors from the Jessica Claire workshop. We asked Erica O’Brien about what inspires her cake designs, and she shared some great inspiration to creation stories with us.

Carl and Serena loved the vintage feel of their invitations, they asked Erica to recreate their invitations for their wedding cake.

Elizabeth and Marcus wanted the inspiration for their wedding to come from their invitation. They loved the idea of a single flower against a contrasting background. Erica OBrien created a handcrafted edible sugar flower to match their invitation.

We love seeing the insight and the inspiration behind the creation of our vendors. A truly talented designer will be able to brilliantly execute the vision and inspiration of the bride and groom into a design that exceeds their expectations. Erica O´Brien has accomplished this brilliantly with these beautiful cake designs.

We will be showcasing the photographs from the other photographers from the  Jessica Claire workshop, to show the different points of view. We will also continue to spotlight the talented vendors that helped us to make it all come together.
