In January we jetted off to Louisiana to design a Parisian style event in New Orleans. We had the most spectacular time discovering the city in between meeting with vendors and finalizing the designs for the party. Around every corner from Canal to Bourbon St, we encountered colorful characters and were greeted with the sounds of jazz filtering out of the hundreds of bars lining the streets. In January we fell in love with NOLA. Here is a sneak peek into our behind the scenes party planning adventure…

We ate at ACME Oyster House in the French Quarter with our friends from Contrast Films and Justin Lee Photography. ACME has lines around the corner and has been opened since 1910. We at freshly shucked raw oysters, seafood gumbo and po’boys. This proved to be one of the greatest culinary delights of my food eating career!

We discovered that Cafe Du Monde (established in 1862), had the most delicious powder covered beignets and coffee. Unbelivable. We took a ride around the city in a horse drawn carriage with the most animated guide and met with all of our fabulous vendors from Diane at Fat Cat Flowers to our fabulous team of caterers.

We ate at some of the best restaurants in New Orleans including Cafe Amelie and Emeril’s NOLA. Both serving traditional New Orleans fare and favorites.  We frolicked around Magazine, Bourbon, Canal, Royal and many other notable streets. We adore the people, culture, and festivity of New Orleans and can’t wait to go back for another event!

Us Lolliladies were recently invited by the Viceroy Palm Springs to jet over to the palm lined streets of the desert and stay at their lovely venue with a few other wedding industry talent. Erin Chaney is the events coordinator and did a fabulous job bringing us all together for a delightful day and evening.

The Viceroy is an ideal location for a wedding, the stylish surroundings are a designers’ dream and “dramatic glamour under the sun.”  The venue is large enough to host a good sized wedding, yet small enough so that you and your guests would feel like you had entire sections of the hotel to yourselves.

The night began with poolside cocktails, paraffin hand treatments and mini massages then led to the lovely dining area with hovering chandeliers and perfect Palm Springs weather. Jose Villa was snapping the photos as Joel Serrato filmed us with his 8mm.  Luna Solomon of Arrangements Floral and Party Design did a fantastic job of designing the cocktail and dining area.

Some of the lovely ladies who were there included Beth Helmstetter, The Bridal Bar, Kristin Banta and her team,Luna Solomon of Arrangements Floral and Party Design, Vanessa and I from Lollipop Events & Designs, Alison Events, Jen from Green Wedding Shoes, Julie Pryor of Pryor Events, and a few more!

The lovely Alison Events team designed this Kate Spade inspired table top. We loved the springtime pops of color set upon a darker navy blue palette. And the men behind the lenses were Jose Villa with his camera and Joel Serrato with his 8 mm.

We will also be sharing Joel’s video of the event!

We get to do a lot of fun behind the scenes things here at Lollipop Events & Designs. Thus begins our new segment, The Lolliladies Unfrosted, in which we will give you a sneak peek into the lives of the Lolliladies.

The Unveiled Bridal Show took place a few weekends ago on Melrose Place. It was a kaleidescope of beautiful bridal designs encompassed by the dazzling storefronts of Monique Lhuillier and Vera Wang. We were there with our Missoni inspired table scape alongside a variety of other talented wedding industry talent. Following is a sampling of some of the beauty that lined the streets of  sunny Melrose Place in Los Angeles.

Row 2 & 3: Carolina Herrera; Row 4 & 5; Vera Wang Row 6; Monique Lhuillier

Models dazzled and delighted onlookers in the windows of Monique Lhullier while modeling gorgeous gowns.

La Tavola displayed their stunning linens with flowers designed by Isari Flower Studio perched upon the pale palette.

The Bridal Bar and Classic Party Rentals chose a glamorous and elegant pink palette accented by vintage china place settings designed by Tic-Tock Couture Florals.

Some of the fabulous speakers who spoke about the industry and gave bridal tips were Harmony from The Bridal Bar, famous chef/ownerr Joachim Splichal from Patina Group, brilliant wedding designer Mindy Weiss, and the Millionaire Matchmaker’s Patty Stanger.

Top Row: Sweet & Saucy Shop; Row 2: Erica O’ Brien & Unknown

A variety of cakes were on display for viewing and tasting!

Patina Catering group had fabulous food and a gorgeous display designed by Dandelion Ranch. We loved the hanging succulents, food displays and flowers perched in old artillery contaniers. Food is art and should be displayed that way!

24 Carrots Catering had a display perfect for the sunny day.

And of course, Vanessa and I were there alongside Tam from Isari Flower studio! We were one Lollilady short, but had a brilliant time! (I think we could have all used a little lipstick touch-up at that point, but oh well! All in a day’s work ;)

Jen O’ Sullivan did a spectacular job of photographing the day.
