Now, lets leave NY and go back in time a bit while we shop for vintage gowns made by designers from around the world at The Frock.  Did you know that Dior and Balmain are from France? Oscar de La Renta was born in theDominican Republic, Georgio Armani is from Italy, Balenciaga was born in Spain and Lanvin was founded in Paris,! Notice some similarties between these gowns from decades past and the current NY runways. (Black & gold, ruching, the 40’s and the 80’s were strongly present at the Spring 2010 shows)

The eighties are making a comeback and what better way to represent the big shoulder era than by wearing a vintage couture gown by Oscar de La Renta.

Timeless fashion frocks from the fifties…

Dare to be different and bold with a Couture Balmain fantasy ballgown circa 1965, an ostrich and beaded satin gown circa the 30’s, a Balenciaga shimmering silver slipper gown, a feminine floral tulle gown in a soft shade of pink by Dior, a bold red Armani gown with organza ruffles, or even a vintage Scaasi black rufled organdy ballgown. The NY runway shows were ablaze with frilly frocks and gowns in bright colors. Black dresses also made as strong appearance at the Spring Shows, we are swooning over the Spring 2010 black Badgley Mischka gown above and the vintage black Scaasi ballgown below.

Our next stop is FrenchBlue & Co. Two sisters who travel and collect unique pieces from around the globe, such as antiques from France or even mid-century modern pieces. Their finds are gathered from visits to the French markets in Paris to west coast flea markets and even Beverly Hills estates.
