Inspiration to Creation: Eat Cake Be Merry (Part I)
Filed Under Food and Drinks, Inspiration to Creation
Liz Shim, owner and designer of Eat Cake Be Merry takes us through another inspiration to creation of her fabulous confections! The beloved baker/designer shows us where she obtains some of her inspiration for the mouth watering designs and then the actual creation! If you missed the last series you need to stop by and see it.
This birthday cake design was “Inspired from a birthday banner decoration”. It seems like such an obvious place to obtain inspiration, yet not everyone would think to translate a paper banner into such a clean design.

“Inspired from the pattern on an Orla Kiely handbag.” There is no better place to obtain inspiration than from fashion, especially when it’s going on a delectable dessert!

The handbag inspired cake is so wonderfully striking (the other one is great, too). I love how perfectly *finished* the little white dots (icing? cachous?) make it look.
