Liz Shim of Eat Cake be Merry combines modern, simple and clean cake designs with delicious cake. She graduated from LeCordon Bleu and now bakes passionately out of New York. We think she is a brilliant baker and asked her to share some of her works of art with us and the Inspiration to Creation process. First, here are a few of our favorite designs…

From Inspiration to Creation Liz transforms her sketches and inspirations into scrumptious confections.

This cake is called the “Pop Flora” and the inspiration came from a design on a three ring binder she found at Target. We are fascinated with how such a simple inspiration could transform into such a lovely cake.

The “Pinwheel” cake inspiration came from the pinwheel appliques of a Jcrew cardigan!

Once again our Inspiration to Creation segment showcases how the tiniest inspirations, whether from a sweater applique or a binder, can turn into design dazzling creations!

Gorgeous! I always find inspiration in the most random objects. It’s amazing to see how she has translated the designs to create these beautiful cakes. The bright flower cake is still my favorite!
