Let the countdown begin… Champagne bubbles and corks popping, kissing under the moonlight at midnight, parades, pinatas, fireworks, sequined cocktail dresses, the ball drop, Dick Clark, Times Square, and celebrating everywhere. Glamour is in the air as we round the corner into 2010…

new years eve party decorSET THE SCENE: Throw a soiree filled with metallics, mirrors shades of lavender and aqua (via The Society), hang glitzy pinatas and throw glittering confetti.

DIY: Make ornaments out of newspaper (there is no better way to celebrate entering 2010 than to leave a green footprint by recycling the news from 2009 into chic ornaments! Be green and celebrate the happy headlines of 2009!)

TO WEAR: Leave 2009 behind in a soft beige leather lavish blossom clutch and sparkling Mui Mui heels that look like they have been covered in confetti. Don an elegantly chic tie dye blouse or a whimsical, eco-friendly ivory hemp dress accented by a bib necklace constructed from vintage jewelry (as seen on Haarpers Baazar).

Gorgeous as always! And I caught my breath–you snagged my favorite pair of Miu Mius and added it to your sparkly mix! LOVE!

Thanks for the lovely post! But it looks like the URL for the DIY ornaments is wrong – could you please fix the link and comment when you do? I would love to know how to make that gorgeous ornament.

Happy new year to you! Love all of the details, especially the diy ornament… I clicked on the link and it took me UO so I checked out the blog but couldn’t find any instructions on it. Can you help me out? Thanks much!

Alright, well you may want to correct your post, since you can’t actually get DIY instructions. While you updated your link, it leads to a dead end. Here is the original ornament, made on an Etsy store and no instructions to be found: http://www.etsy.com/view_transaction.php?transaction_id=14006488.

Hi Valerie, thank you for providing the link. Since the store was sold out we were just providing a tip on a fun DIY that could be recreated. We thought it would be fun, appropriate and interesting to create ornaments out of the headlines from 2009 and were inspired by those lovely ornaments pictured above.
