‘Hi! I’m Vera D., the gal behind My $10,000 Wedding. I’m excited to guest blog on Lollipop Events & Designs and share with you the results of the save-the-date contest they threw over the summer. I was a fan even before I won the contest — their colorful and whimsical event designs have inspired me ever since I started planning for my October, 2010 (yup 10-10-10) wedding last April. So when I found out I had won, I was floating on cloud nine!!!

So what was the design influence for our save-the-dates? My fiance, Fred, is a classical Spanish guitarist from Florida and I had been attached to an invitation featuring a bluegrass guitar with f-holes on Snippet & Ink’s Bluegrass inspiration board. During my initial consultation with Vanessa, I described our wedding as whimsical and romantic, with a splash of Zooey Deschanel’s quirky style. Design influences included mid-century modern lines, Western typography and art noveau/deco illustrations. Our wedding colors are peacock blue and orange with silver, and the only other request I had was that they use the Rosewood font. Here is the inspiration board I sent:

Lollipop was excited to learn that Fred was a musician and they immediately suggested that the cover of the save-the-date mimic a guitar, complete with a die cut for the guitar sound hole and f-holes. They recommended using a wood grain and that the entire save-the-date would ultimately be wrapped with twine to look like guitar strings.

{{SWOON}} We loved it!

For the rest of the save-the-date, Lollipop provided 4 design options for the front cover and 2 for the inside flap. I had suggested birds as a nice-to-have and Lollipop Events & Designs vera photowent a step further and included musical notes/bars as a design option. Very cute.

Throughout the process, we felt that the Lollipop Events & Design team were enthused about our save-the-dates as we were. We appreciated their creativity and above all, going above and beyond in creating something truly special and unique to me and Fred. Thank you, Vanessa, Cortnie and Jen!!’

DETAILS OF OUR LOLLIPOP CONTEST!: For our Win a Free Custom Save the Date Contest we asked our readers to complete our “Wedding Style Quiz” and leave their style results in the comment section under the post. We proceeded to post inspiration boards for the next week based on the styles in the wedding quiz including a Nod to Modern, Rustic Vintage, Crafty Chic, Romantic Glam, Beach Casual, and Timeless Classic. After posting our inspiration styles, we used random.org to generate a random number for us. Vera was our lucky winner! We will be posting more about our design process, the design options that we proposed to Vera and finally the finished and printed invitation. Stay tuned for the big unveil!…..
