Haute Diggety Dog! We have seen many couples incorporate their pooches into their wedding day. Whether Fido is chowing down on his own personalized wedding doggie treats or he is sauntering down the aisle with a perfectly coifed shiny topcoat we love seeing primped pooches as “groomed” as the groom himself. Bedazzle your cute canine companion with dressed up dog tags or designer doggy duds. This little Frenchie is one blinged out Benji! We especially love the fashion-forward statement necklace (or collar in this case!). Our recent couple Val & Garth gave each of their pups pink tuxedos and personalized wedding doggie cakes to eat off of their very own dining table! What are some fun ways that you would incorporate your four legged furry friend into your big day? ***(Sidenote: one of us Lolliladies has a little French Bulldog named Bubba the bulldog!)

tis the season

First pumpkins and candy, then turkey and stuffing, now with out any signs of slowing, the Holidays are coming at you full steam ahead! With shopping and family and all of the other to do’s that come with the season, why not let go of some of the stress and let Lollipop take care of your Holiday party? Whether it’s your company’s corporate holiday event, your chic cocktail affair or a gorgeous dinner party, Lollipop will transform any ho-hum party into a festive fete sure to wow! From catering and cocktails, design and decor, or even entertainment for your event, we’ll swoop in and with the wave of a wand work our Lollipop magic!

We’ve all been here before… You put on your best office/festive attire, you go back to the board room only to be served boxed wine in styrofoam, toe crushing fruit cake and a sweaty cheese plate. You listen to droning elves hum holiday tunes on the radio while trying not to get cornered by Bob from accounting, as he loves to share with anyone who will listen what he’s buying each of his 6 cats for Christmas.

Lolliop Holiday Party

It’s not too late to save the date, let Lollipop take over and transform your Holiday affair to an affair to remember! Unless you’re looking forward to forward to doing the macarena with Phyllis from HR.

Yesterday we posted an interview from one of our brides who proclaimed,“the single biggest piece of advice we’d pass on to others is to be yourself, and don’t let rules or traditions of the past dictate the best day of your life!” We continue to be inspired by people who approach anything with this attitude, whether it be a ’soon-to-wed’ couple, a film icon or even a fashion designer. This is a great mantra to embrace for life in general, whether it be in regards to your career or your wedding day. So today we are inspired by our bride Val, and famous fashion icon Sonia Rykiel for succeeding by just being themselves!

sonia rykiel portrait Parisian Sonia Rykiel is known as the French “queen of knits” and famous for her fire engine red, oversized cozy knitwear, writing on sweaters and rhinestones. She was quoted in a Marie Claire interview stating “I was ugly and my four sisters were so beautiful with their blonde curly hair. It was terrible, terrible but in the right way. It made me want to be the best at everything. It made me positive and strong.” Sonia Rykiel’s hair is now somewhat of her trademark as well as the fact that she has became one of the highest acclaimed designers of all time. Inspired by the strength and success of Sonia’s mantra and the sage advice of our bride Val, we created a Sonia Rykiel inspired board to celebrate being bold and being yourself! (photo of sonia rykiel)

Don oversized vintage Ted Lapidus sunglasses trimmed in gold and top your wedding gown with a vibrant orange textured capelet. Give your bridesmaids golden yellow copies of clothbound Penguin Classic, Pride and Prejiduce appropriately written by literary master, Jane Austen and give groomsmen funky Geoffrey David knit bowties in bright tartan and plaid prints.

Just be carefree, like a vison of a Sonia Rykiel Bride!

So take it from real bride Val who said that being herself is what made her wedding day a success, to famous fashion icon Sonia Rykiel who said that being bold attributed to the success of her fashion empire. Whether it’s a Hello Kitty studded wedding ring (a’ la Val) or butterfly barrettes and oversized sunglasses (a’ la Sonia), we are  inspired by couples who are not caught up in trends and rules, but instead ensure that the day is a perfect reflection of them and their love for one another. Who inspires you to be yourself?!

“I now pronounce you husband and wife” … Cue the long embrace, the first lip smack (possibly a dip) followed by an eruption of “whoooopieees” and cheers from friends and family as the newlyweds happily trot down the aisle way admist a sea of grinnning guests. This moment, is the moment. It’s the moment for which we create and dream up floral designs, tablescapes, invitations, and the perfect colors. So we asked our bridegroom, Val & Garth what inspired them to be surrounded by a Palm Studded desert oasis and mid century modern designs for their big moment?

What was your initial vision for your wedding? Our initial vision was something very simple, but unique. We wanted the design and look of the wedding to fit well with the location and setting of Palm Springs. Our original idea was to use bright, fun colors that fit well with the mid-century modern theme of the venue. We also wanted it to be casual and fun; more like a party than a traditional wedding.

You are both styled to perfection. What gave you the inspiration for the pink tuxedo shirt and your gorgeous Hello Kitty ring? The shirt was once again fitting for the wedding; casual and laid back,  just like we are. Garth couldn’t picture himself in any kind of a tuxedo or suit, period (let alone in the Palm Springs heat).  We also wanted our guests to be very casual and comfortable; shorts, sundresses, and flip flops were the attire of choice. As for the Hello Kitty ring, Val is a lifelong Hello Kitty fan. She wanted something different and non-traditional to reflect her personality, so what better than Hello?! Val also wore a Tarina Tarantino Hello Kitty necklace from her bridal collection, which is where the hues of pink were picked up from. Just wanted a few pops of pink here and there, nothing too girly.

What was your favorite aspect of the design process with the Lolliladies? There were so many, but to us the most exciting thing was opening new emails from the Lolli’s with style and design inspiration. To see the concepts they came up with, based on our simple ideas, really blew us away. It was so exciting to see colors and fabrics put together in a way that we could never have come up with on our own. Everything they did was unique, which was perfect, since we did NOT want a cookie-cutter wedding. Every little detail was thought of, from the bow ties on the cocktail glasses, to the cutest keg cozy we had ever seen. Not only did we love everything, but our guests loved everything too, and appreciated all of the special details. They especially had fun with the etch-able beer cups!

What part of the décor surprised you the most on your wedding day? That’s an easy one…. The comic strip, of course! That was such a delightful surprise. We were both so stoked, and everyone loved them. The comic told the story of how we met and came to be…. It brought back so many great memories for us! We absolutely loved the cartoon versions of us that they came up with, too. The cartoon version of Val even had hot pink nail polish!

What was your #1 favorite aspect of the design? We loved how the design fit in well, not only with the setting and venue, but also with our personalities and lifestyle. So in a few words, the continuity of it all. We loved the bright colors that were used, they fit the Palm Springs mid-century theme to a tee.  They also worked perfectly with the colors used in the home where the wedding took place. The majority of the florals used were succulents, which fit the Palm Springs landscape. We loved the retro vibe of the place cards and signage, it went so well with the feeling of the venue… Very vintage chic!  The best example of how the design fit with our lifestyles, though, was definitely the doggie table. We are HUGE dog lovers, and Sid, Pickle, and Puddin’ had to be included in our special day… The Lolli’s made sure of that. The pups feasted on custom-made doggie cakes on their special table that the ladies made just for them!

Your wedding had such an amazing group of close friends and family. What was the most common response from your guests when commenting on your wedding? To be totally honest, we heard (and continue to hear) from several of our guests that it was the best wedding they have ever attended. To us, It was absolutely our dream; a perfect, mid-century modern Palm Springs pool party wedding. The thing that really made our wedding stand out to people as fun and unique was the single fact that we let our special day reflect us and who we are. We weren’t afraid to deviate from the norm a little, and break some of the standard, more traditional wedding rules of the past. The single biggest piece of advice we’d pass on to others is to be yourself, and don’t let rules or traditions of the past dictate the best day of your life!

What’s next for Val & Garth as Mr & Mrs? Up next for us is the continued restoration/decoration of our little treehouse cottage in Laguna Beach. Got any good design ideas, Lolli’s???

Being in the wedding industry you get to meet a lot of other creative minds at all of the fabulous networking events we attend. Since the blogging boot camp a few months back we’re proud to call the lovely ladies at Inspired PR friends. We absolutely LOVE these girls and all of their wonderful ideas, especially their latest venture WhoWhatWedding.com!

This week they were kind of enough to feature us Lolliladies and asked us about our inspiration, the hats we each wear and how we transform our inspirations into reality. We gave them a behind the scenes look at how we transform our inspiration to creation for our Winter Wonderland table.  Go check it out and let us know what you think!
