We have been inspired by Beau-tea-ful things all week, especially with the upcoming Tim Burton movie coming out in 2010 based on the story Alice in Wonderland by English Author, Lewis Carroll. A 19-year-old Alice will return to her childhood adventure and re-unite with her old friends! We love that Alice is all grown up but returning to her magical world to find out her true destiny. What an enchanting story to translate into a wedding! Today we are inspired by fashion icons, Haute Couture, ruby red gowns and rabbit holes. Thus, our tea party continues…
DESIGN IDEA: Wouldn’t the tag with the skeleton key make a fabulous invitation?! (top left photo) Photo Sources: IMDB.
Photography legend, Annie Leibovitz did a ‘Alice in Wonderland’ inspired photo shoot for Vogue Magazine featuring fashion icons and their designs … The following gowns would translate brilliantly into wedding gowns, and would make a perfect “something blue!”
Top Row: Karl Lagerfield; Chanel Haute Couture satin jacket Row 2: Jean Paul Gaultier; Blue silk-jersey draped dress by Gaultier Paris Row 3: Viktor & Rolf; Viktor & Rolf multi-layered silk dress Row 4: Christian Lacroix and Stephen Jones; Christian Lacroix Haute Couture dress with painted and sculpted mink dickey over lace top and frilled lame skirt Row 5: John Galliano and Alexis Roche; Dior Couture Row 6: Donatella Versace and Ruper Everett; Altelier Versace layered silk-tulle and chiffon- organza dress lined in lace Row 7: Oliver Theyskens and model Natalia Vodianova; Rochas iridescent blue flower ruffle dress designed by Theyskens
The wedding above was not inspired by ‘Alice in Wonderland’, yet when we saw these photographs taken years ago via Offbeat Bride we also saw elements that reminded us of the enchanting story and had to find out more! From the brides ruby red gown and top hat, to the game of lawn croquet and the fact that it took place right outside of London, we were smitten! The talented Martin Oliver Photography informed us these were taken right outside of London back in 2006 of stunning bride and groom, Pen and Neil.
